This is not a blog about artificial intelligence. It is a platform for studying a single question from many angles: how does computation change the economics of human capability?
The thesis
Most discussion of foundation models concerns productivity, automation, and reasoning. The argument here is narrower. The first-order economic contribution of foundation models is neither intelligence nor prediction. It is the dramatic reduction in the cost of transforming unstructured human knowledge into structured decision variables.
Business has never lacked information. It has lacked measurable information. Customer conversations, partner relationships, competitive positioning, hiring signals, regulatory sentiment — these have always mattered and have almost never entered a quantitative model. When the cost of structuring them collapses, the set of decisions worth modelling expands, and the economics of management science changes.
Why economics is the lens
Technology is the mechanism, not the destination. Quantum computing changes the economics of scientific discovery. Foundation models change the economics of decision making. Digital biology changes the economics of drug discovery. Robotics changes the economics of labour. The interesting question is never what a technology can do — it is what becomes economically worth doing once it exists.
What gets published
Every essay here is written to satisfy three conditions:
- It stands alone as a piece of work.
- It strengthens an existing framework.
- It extends the research agenda.
No news posts. No trend summaries. The aim is work that remains useful in five years, which rules out most of what is currently written about this subject.
